My T-mobile G1 had no headphone jack and required an adapter back in 2008. Apple’s waaaaay behind the times.

I got a set of JBL Bluetooth headphones and I used them maybe an hour a day at lunch at my previous job. They seemed to last a couple days and never needed re-pairing.

I know the better ones are good about this...I just work at a job where I’m on the iPhone 3-6 hours a day (sometimes with 100 people) and can’t afford any drops or disconnects. All I'm saying is that Apple is a wee bit premature in dropping it entirely.

I think this is a lame attempt at having the same foresight Jobs had ditching stuff like optical drives and VGA connectors before they started disappearing from most products.

But in those cases new technologies limited their benefits and you can only make a laptop about as thin as my non-retina Macbook Pro is with space for an optical drive, with VGA also being a rather bulky and unsightly port with high-performance alternatives.

3.5 port takes up no space and most people still use it daily.

There’s calculated foresight that may cause some initial groaning and then there’s straight up guessing.
